Today, the tradition continues as people all over the world gather for festive Twelfth Night celebrations. A popular custom was and still is the baking of a special cake in honor of the three kings, called "A King's Cake."

  1. Mardi Gras is also called Fat Tuesday.
  2. It is always 47 days prior to Easter Sunday
  3. New Orleans is not the only City where it is celebrated
  4. King Cake are traditional during these season, the original version has a tiny baby inside (generally plastic)
  5. Lifting up your shirt for beads is not an official tradition at the Mardi Gras celebrations.
