Week 1: A Short Intro To My Adventure
Like most people, my New Year’s resolutions include a healthier lifestyle. Every year it’s on the list. Usually I find myself adding in some fitness and tell myself I’m going to eat healthier and cut out bread and cheese or something crazy like that. This year, I’m trying something new. Cooking more!
This is where GoWISE comes in. As a new-ish employee here at GoWISE, I naturally have wanted to use our products in my personal life. I am a single mom, and am always trying to maximize the time I can spend with my daughter. Luckily, she likes to cook with me (aka move veggies around. She’s 2 😊 ) I love how GoWISE products are time savers, and I’m hoping they will make my life easier in the kitchen – allowing me to cook more healthy meals while also having more time to do art projects, play dress-up, and watch Frozen. And have some me-time too.
Here is my plan. Each week I will use my GoWISE products to prepare as many of my meals as possible and document my successes and struggles along the way. I will use our body fat scale to monitor my weight and body fat percentage throughout. I hope to lose 5 pounds over the course of the month, and see a positive impact on body fat percentage as well (though based on research it will likely be 1% or less). More importantly than the numbers, I hope to feel healthier and happier. I always say I think cooking is good for the soul – so I believe I will be. I will share my experiences once or twice a week, and would love tips or feedback from readers as well!
The products I’ll be using:
8 QT Copper Pressure Cooker: I have had this for about a month already have used it several times. Should help with my meal prepping.
Retro Air Fryer: This is our latest line of air fryers that look really awesome. I have yet to try one out, so I’m excited to see how it goes. I like the size of the retro air fryers (they are 2.75 QT). They don’t take up much space, and because I will likely use this for mostly side dishes or quick snacks, it’s the perfect fit.
Body Fat Scale: I have no idea what my body fat percentage is. Not sure I’m looking forward to knowing what that is (especially after all my holiday eating), but I’m hoping to see that number decline this month.
Kitchen Scale: I’ve never been great at portion control. I feel like I’m going to find out that I’ve been overeating my whole life. We’ll see.
Some other tools I’ll be using:
Blender - Look out in the next few months for our high-speed blenders! For now, I’ll be using my personal, old, not-so-high-speed blender.
Veggie Spiralizer – Just got one for Christmas and I’m loving it. Can’t wait to try sweet potato curly fries in the air fryer!
