Everyone can think back to all those yummy dishes we used to enjoy when we were kids. Whether it was a box of junk food like Pop Tarts for breakfast or your mom’s homemade cooking. Talk about nostalgia! Well, we at GoWISE USA want to bring back a dose of that sentimentality. Each month you’ll be able to meet various members of GoWISE USA and see us recreate our favorite childhood recipes utilizing all of our products in our new video series, Mealtime Memories with GoWISE!
This month, we’ll introduce you to Hailey, one of our Junior Graphic Designers, who utilized the Premiere High-Performance Blender to whip up her mom’s homemade salsa! Growing up, Hailey’s mom always had a little herb garden in the house with herbs, like dill and cilantro, and she would always make fresh salsa. The summertime is where Hailey and her family would all gather at her grandparents house and enjoy swimming in the pool, a big barbecue and of course her mom’s famous salsa!
Mama Sue’s Salsa
Blenders are great for whipping up your favorite dips, such as hummus, queso dip and salsa. You simply throw your desired ingredients in the appliance, blend and done! This summer inspired dish is just in time for Labor Day and has the perfect combination of tomatoes, cilantro, jalapenos and herbs! It is excellent to pair with your favorite tortilla chips or pita crackers. Other ways to enjoy this salsa is to use it as a marinade, substitute it for salad dressing, slow cook it with your desired meat and more! An easy way to chop the cilantro is to fold the stalks in half, which will allow for better control. The spices included are a one-to-one ratio, so if you need to halve or double your recipe, then no problem!
28 oz. can diced tomatoes
3 stalks green onion, cut into thirds
10-12 stalks cilantro (leaves only), cut into thirds
1 lime, cut in half and juiced
1 tsp pepper
1 tsp seasoned salt
1 tsp coriander
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp garlic salt
Roughly chop the green onion and cilantro.
Slice your jalapeno in half. To change the level of heat in your salsa, then add or take away the seeds.
Cut your lime in half.
Drain half of the juice from the canned tomatoes and discard.
In your blender, add in the cilantro, green onions, jalapenos and remaining tomato juice. Squeeze in as much lime as desired. Place the lid on and pulse until chopped semi-finely.
Add in the diced tomatoes, spices and desired level of jalapeno seeds. *If you decide after you’ve added the jalapeno seeds, that you want a little more spice, then feel free to add chili pepper or paprika!
Pulse until you get your desired consistency. Serve at room temperature with your favorite tortilla chips. Enjoy!
